The updated guidance for local government and food businesses was part of a suite of initiatives developed with states and territories to support strengthened food safety in the food service and retail sector to benefit consumers and protect public health and safety.

The key changes to the standard are the requirements for training for food handlers and supervisors and substantiating key actions at critical points known to manage food safety risks.

Draft Tourism and Hospitality Workforce Development Strategy in conjunction with the Australian Chamber Tourism.

Dec 2021

Tourism Training has produced a draft Tourism and Hospitality Workforce Development Strategy in conjunction with the Australian Chamber Tourism. This document details how we might start to address replacing the 310,000 staff we have lost to 2021. This is going to be a huge task, and we all need to work together to make it happen.
The strategy proposes labour solutions from both domestic and international sources and skilling solutions for industry entrants and existing workers alike. There will be no silver bullet in solving this crisis. All ideas need to be embraced and supported. Travel, tourism, hospitality, accommodation and events are in competition with all industry areas to attract staff and secure investment in our workforce.
